Unwinding at BELUGA BILL’s

After coming back from a day of fishing for trophy King Salmon, monster halibut, hiking, or just having a grand day of fighting salmon on our boardwalk, feel free to unwind on one of our outdoor decks, sit around the riverside firepit, or maybe gather in our outdoor kitchen and community eating area to share Alaska adventure stories.

Riverside Fish Cleaning Station

We provide riverside fish cleaning stations so that immediately upon catching your fish you can walk just a few feet and immediately begin processing your fish to ensure you get home with amazing tasting fish… right out of the river and to your home. To ensure you have the freshest fish and to be good stewards of all that is Alaska, our anglers bleed and clean their fish immediately. While you can pay to have your fish cleaned and processed in town, we provide the knives and cleaning stations as well as free onsite lessons to do it yourself.

Onsite Private Fish Processing

Just steps from your cabin, BELUGA BILL's provides one of the finest systems for ensuring you get to bring home fresh fish to share with your friends and family. Our fish processing facility comes complete with vacuum sealers, filet knives (you provide your own bags) and freezer space to hold your daily catch limits for fish caught at BELUGA BILL's. Freezer space will be provided for all BELUGA BILL's packaged excursions. We will also  do our best to accommodate fish you catch on various independant trips as space is available. We can also refer you to nearby freezer storage options (we sell vacuum bags).

Outdoor Kitchen and Meal Options

Each cabin and lodge suites have ample indoor kitchen and meal prep areas, however some of our clients prefer to eat and cook some of their meals outdoors. We provide outdoor grilling and eating space for each of our cabins and lodge guests. We also provide a large fully equipped outdoor kitchen, smokers, and communal eating area so that multiple groups who wish to share a meal and come together for a larger meal time.

Fishing Runs around the Kenai

Beluga Bills Fishing Rhythms:

While no one can control the exact timing, longevity, or concentration of the salmon runs in Alaska, there are patterns that fish and wildlife tend to follow that can help guide your trip planning.

  • April-May: World Class Trophy Rainbow trout fly fishing in the Kenai or the nearby Russian Rivers. Very good combo and halibut fishing out of Homer, Ninilchik or Seward.
  • June 1- June 30: Good early-run sockeye run fishing off our private boardwalk. Very good halibut or combo fishing out of Homer, Seward or Ninilchik. Good early trophy King Salmon fishing on the Kenai and Kasilof rivers. Some rainbow trout trophy fly fishing is still available. Some early Russian River fishing kicks in late May and June. June tends to be the sunniest month. Early Bear viewing and all other wildlife viewing is kicking in. Whale watching and glacier tours, river and sea kayaking, hiking, flight-seeing are all strong.
  • June 15-July 10: Great fishing on the world-class Russian River 20 mins away (we have waders and equipment). No one should come to Alaska and miss fishing the Russian River! Sockeye salmon fishing from our private boardwalk. Halibut and combo fishing are great. Bear viewing and all other wildlife viewing, glacier, kayaking, hiking, flight-seeing are all still in full swing. Trophy King Salmon on the Kenai and Kasilof are typically red hot.
  • July 10-Aug 15: Sockeye Salmon fishing from Beluga Bills private boardwalk fishing is strong. Russian River fishing is still going (even though it slows a bit in between runs). Halibut and combo is excellent. Kings on the Kenai and Kasilof are good until July 30 when it often closes. Bear viewing and all other wildlife viewing, glacier, kayaking, hiking, flight-seeing are all still in full swing.
  • Aug 15-Sept 30: The Silvers salmon (Coho) run occurs every year. Pink Salmon runs occur in even years every other year. Silver salmon are bigger than sockeye. Silver and pink fishing happens off our private boardwalk as well as guided trips on Kenai, Kasilof, and out of Seward. There are also silver fishing derbies that you can enter.
